INSTALLATION SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT BY A COMPETENT
PERSON IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE RELEVANT WATER BY-LAWS.

A) VALVE INSTALLATION

FIG1 shows a typical installation with dedicated HOT and COLD supplies to the Maelstrom 2000 Shower Valve. Although this is not essential dedicated supplies will ensure that the flow to the Shower Valve is not affected when other appliances / outlets on the domestic water system are operated.

  1. Remove the Temperature and Flow Control Knobs from the Valve.
  2. Mark the position for the Shower Valve and Wall Outlet or Fixed Head as shown in FIG 2.
  3. Mark around the Wallplate and chase out a cavity to the correct depth as shown in FIG 3 leaving a 10mm wide (minimum) sealing face for the Wallplate.
  4. Chase out the wall as required for all inlet and outlet pipework. The outlet pipework will be different for fixed and flexible systems - see FIG 2 & 3. All pipework should be 22mm. It will be necessary to reduce the outlet pipework to 15mm immediately before the Fixed Head or Wall Outlet fittings.
  5. Fix the Valve in position in the wall cavity using the screws provided. Check that the valve inlet ports are horizontal and that the outlet ports are vertical.
  6. Flush through the inlet pipework to remove any dust/flux/solder deposits and connect to the Valve ensuring that the HOT supply is to the LEFT hand port and the COLD supply to the RIGHT hand port. Connect the outlet pipework between the Valve and Wall Outlet or Fixed Head as required. Ensure that all pipework is adequately clipped.

NOTE: The bottom Valve outlet can be used to supply bath fill / body jets etc. but a separate On/Off valve will be required (not supplied).

B) SLIDER RAIL

  1. Where required position and fix Slider Rail as shown in FIG 2.

C) COMMISSIONING

  1. Fit the Temperature and Flow Control Knobs to the Valve but not the retaining screws.
  2. Attach the Shower Hose to the Wall Outlet where fitted and lay in the bath or shower tray.
  3. Set the temperature adjustment on the Valve to full cold and turn on both hot and cold water supplies. Ensure that the Valve isolating ports are fully open by turning the adjusting screw anti-clockwise. Open the flow control and allow water to run for several minutes until all air is purged from the system.
  4. Move the temperature control to full hot and repeat (iii) above.

CHECK FOR LEAKS.

D) COMPLETE INSTALLATION

  1. Remove Temperature and Flow Control Knobs and tile to complete.
  2. Apply a bead of sealant to the groove in the Wallplate and fit over Valve collars. A film of washing up liquid applied to the bore of the grommets will simplify installation. Push Wallplate fully home a clean off any excess sealant.
  3. Re-fit control knobs and retaining screws. Fit screw blanking caps.
  4. Where appropriate fit Wall Outlet or Fixed Head wallplate.

E) OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. The upper control knob is Flow Control and rotating anticlockwise will turn on the shower.
  2. The lower control knob is Temperature Control and rotating clockwise reduces the set temperature, rotating anti-clockwise increases temperature.
  3. When rotating the Temperature Control knob anti-clockwise a pre-set stop position is reached. This position is factory set at 38c, the normal showering temperature. However, if higher temperatures are required the stop can be overridden by depressing the red button and continuing to rotate the control knob anti-clockwise. If required the Valve can be re-calibrated and the stop temperature adjusted. (See section G)

F) CLEANING

Wipe over with a soft damp cloth to remove stains.

ABRASIVE CLEANERS OR STRONG DETERGENTS
WILL DAMAGE THE SURFACE FINISH

G) CALIBRATION / STOP POSITION ADJUSTMENT

  1. Carefully remove the screw blanking cap and the retaining screw from the Temperature Control Knob.
  2. Adjust the Temperature Control until the required temperature is achieved.
  3. Without turning the knob remove and re-fit with the Control Knob set at the stop position.
  4. Re-fit screw and blanking cap.

H) THERMOSTATIC CARTRIDGE / FILTER REMOVAL (See Fig 4)

  1. Carefully remove Wallplate.
  2. Close both hot and cold isolating valves by rotating screws clockwise.
  3. Remove the blanking cap and screw from the Temperature Control Knob and remove knob.
  4. Unscrew valve Collar from cartridge.
  5. Using a 19mm spanner remove thermostatic cartridge.
  6. Wash off any deposits from filter and remove lime-scale deposits by washing in vinegar.
  7. Lubricate O ring seals with silicone grease and re-assemble in reverse order.
